The Last Cannibal Act
by Lyle Berry (Age: 61)
copyright 12-31-2002

Age Rating: 18 to 127

  The Last Cannibal Act

Gobble my heart.
Gourmandize
my lungs and kidneys.
Feast on my spleen,
liver, pancreas.
Devour my bowels.
Exsanguinate
and drink my blood.
Shatter my skull
and suck out the eyes
tongue and brain.
Shred the flesh
from my skeleton;
boil it with the bones.
Wolf it all down
and mop up
the last bits and broth
with the bread
of my moral fiber.
Lick your sticky fingers.
Then you’ll have consumed everything.
You’ve already eaten my soul.

Oh...wow...

...I'm kind of sitting here with the mental image in my head staring in awe. To possess such a vicious, yet subdued rage...like the last burning flame ready to be brushed aside, yet something still struggling despite its will...

...AMAZING Lyle

I don't exactly know how to comment on this. It certainly tells the story, and is well-written. Not exactly a gushy sweet-sounding poem. I think I'll read it one more time, then find another poem to read to try to get this picture out of my mind.
