Hotel, Motel....Holiday Inn....
by Jeniffer Brand (Age: 38)
copyright 07-17-2004

Age Rating: 7 to 127

I now work for "Staybridge Suites"
by Holiday Inn!
Their new Director of Sales I am,
they told me with a grin!

Since we're a new hotel,
we hardly have any guests.
Just a lot of empty beds,
where all the heads "should" rest!

They count on me to fill the place,
to bring up revenue.
A marketing plan, a STAR report,
all things I have to do!

Where to start? Where to go?
I start to feel the pressure!
A set-up office? Complete accounts?
Group bookings would be a treasure!

So off I go, I hit the streets
in search for tons of room nights!
Into businesses I storm, to prospects I talk,
about the hotel highlights!

My cell phone's ringing, reports are printing,
I'm giving a prospect a tour!
It's now 5pm, I grab my bag, my phone,
thank God I'm out the door!

This is only 1/4th of my day
and the stress I have within!
But that's how I love it...it's my hotel career
with Staybrige Suites by Holiday Inn!

It must of been great to get the job :) Stress and running around are part of it, but also fun if you can unwind with a few pranks on your staff :P

Catchy title, draws you into the poem. I enjoyed reading. Unlike Mary though, "Rappers Delight" symbolizes very happy times in my life...lol. Nice poem.

Heh! Sounds like my day as a sales team coordinator. And like you, I like my job just the way it is! :-)

I liked how it flowed and didn't feel forced for the most part. :-)

The title sounds like a line from RAPPER'S DELIGHT that I used to listen to when I was young. Usually songs bring back a smile or happy memory, but that song... well, I wrote about it in my HELLO, MY NAME IS BRYTEYZ book. Good poem though. :-)

Each word falls in place a well crafted poem, keeps the image in place. Message is a little more vague, soft hiddened, a great introduction.

I've noticed as a general trend in poems, that you get "where" and "were" mixed up. I thought at first it was a typo, but I'm not sure if you have trouble with it (like some people do with there and their).

Where is like a place. Where are you? Where are you from?

Were is a form of 'to be' in the past tense. You were playing tennis. Were you out with your friends?

Very cute poem, btw.
