Back In The Day

I often slip back into areas of life where things were very different. It was not a problem to be lying under a car at midnight putting in a starter or modifying an exhaust system.

Built a show car or two, did a little racing, legal and illegal, but thats another story. Talking about cars and modifications in the garage having a beer or two. Picking out a tune or writing a song in the middle of the night with the amp up just a tad.

Playing basketball at the playground until all hours of the day. Being able to take the buss to another playground to play pick up games. Riding my bike to a creek to fish or swim, all gone.... My children neither can nor could do any of these things. Neighbors complain, police come, gangs scare, others, laugh.

Still the stories, I tell inspire and push the imagination to the point, where young men and women who cross my path, try for their own form and they too see magic in the little things that occupy their time, some are even duplication, just applied a little more carefully.

As my youngest son puts it, "back in the day" my dad and uncle rode dinosaurs. Now, we drive cars.

Ahhhhhhh the good all days. Great write Walt. Now when do I get to read the one about the illegal racing. That sounds like a great story.
