HOW LONG BEFORE I FORGET
------------------------------
(chorus)
How many times please tell me,
Just how long will it be
When will my heart forget the love,
You never had for me
How many rhymes will flow and
Again, when will I know
I want to understand why with
My heart you had to go
How many times must I say goodbye, before it's all done being said
How many times will I think of the memories hiding inside my head
How many times will I read your letters 'till they're done being read
How long must I cry my tears until they well up in my bed
How long must I feel like dying, until I'm no longer dead
How long must I feed this hunger, 'till its done being fed
(Chorus)
How many times please tell me,
Just how long will it be
When will my heart forget the love,
You never had for me
How many rhymes will flow and
Again, when will I know
I want to understand why with
My heart you had to go
When will my emotions lead me to freedom and tire of being led
When will my fear forget the day, the one that you and I met
When will my panic subside and be done falling without a net
I want to remember only the good times, and forget all the rest
I want to glue the pieces back together, and hold on 'till it's set
I want to dry my eyes and heartache until they're done being wet
How many times please tell me,
Just how long will it be
When will my heart forget the love,
You never had for me
How many rhymes will flow and
Again, when will I know
I want to understand why with
My heart you had to go

(Happy Dance!) 3 praise points + 5 praise points average 4 praise points. It's climbing in the right direction! Yay! :-)
Thanks, Leigh. I really appreicate all the time you've devoted to reading and rating and commenting so thoughtfully on each and every one of my postings here at PnP. Time permitting, I'd love to return the favor!
Wow! This reminds me so much of the poem I wrote day before yesterday, Liar, that I plan on submitting today it's creepy! It reminds me of a lot of my poems, actually...I feel like I could of written it myself! Simply amazing! Your chorus was a little bumpy in some places, but the lines and their connection to each other along with similar setup was epic! Poetry is something I've only gotten into for the last nearly three years...songs have been my thing since I could talk. :D According to my mother, that is...for I don't remember much from when I was that small! This song was awesome, I loved it! The fact it only had three points of praise is...is...sacreligious! Wonderful work Mary! Simply astounding! Five points all the way!
Hay I've been in a few of those anthologies! I never saw a book that cost 50 dollars in the book stores and the ones for 10 dollars are better looking anyway. My poem was even on the first page so I didn't have to look for it! My mom actually bought one once! This is a good song and the pain of loss is strong! Anthony
Thank you Lary. This is one of the many "fortunate" *cough* enough to "make" it into the poetry.com anthology. It's nice to hear from you that it REALLY is a nice poem. Now I believe it. *grin* (Read all the sarcasm you can into this regarding poetry.com but not my thanks. They are sincere.)
