The Gathering Glen
by Kay Lee Kelly
copyright 11-05-2002

Age Rating: 1 to 127

The Wizard robed in velvet green
calling a Spirit who is unseen.
Demands all the elements, earth and air
‘Appear’ I say ! (all must be there.)

Pegasus flying from across the lea,
she had been playing in the Winter Sea.
Finding in the tide pool deep,
Golden tears, where Angels weep.

Forest Fairies colored so bright,
fill the dark glen with gleaming light.
Brilliant accents flash all around,
Butterfly, Dragonfly can all be found.

Lurking by the forest indigo pond
Griffin mutters and waves a wand,
looking for spells to cast below,
and stop the horror, creeping slow.

Eons of dwelling in the gnarled pine,
Wild rose and Blackthorn twist, intwine.
Ivy and Holly weave in her leaves
Enchantment ~ magic lives in the tree.

Pixie hears, and answers the call
joins the Celtic host , and shows to all,
her delicate wings ~ Old magic clings
to the crystal fairy with cobweb wings.

Whimsical garden flowers of blue
Enchanted Snails dancing through,
Ladybug laughs and shouts with glee,
the Dragon gavottes for all to see.

Spellbinding stories, giggles, sings,
now the joyful noise begins,
come one, come all, to the gathering glen,
only the pure of spirit may dance in the fen.

Deep and dark from under the ground
lusting evil creeps through the town.

Old bones race with a beam of the moon ,
to destroy the Wizard, will happen soon.
Ancient warriors will claim the land.
The Wizard and Fairies will make their last stand.

A Skeletal Commander on his Death Steed
shouting to all, and drinking mead.
He rules the Evil Minions of the night,
challenges all that is light and bright.

The stage is set for an awful fight,
when a sliver of light cuts through the night.
It is Mary Lee, who opens the door,
a soft gentle light floods the floor.

In her hand is a Gargoyle of Gold
to drive away evil, it’s a story of old.
She puts the miniature near a Fairy Charm.
Smiles at her friends, they will come to no harm.

She Dreams of her toys on the pine shelf.
Nobody moves not even Green Elf.
They watch, wait for an other day,
after The Dark, they will play.

What to say... I'm astounded by the depth of color and sensory ambience associated with this poem, Disney's animators would be shamed...

Yet, I wonder... who is Mary Lee? Perhaps a follow-up or continuation? Pretty please?
