As I watch the moonlight dance across the water,
breathing in the salty air,
I close my eyes and wish a little harder,
Please let me escape this nightmare.
His blows only seem stronger,
As time passes me by,
The nights get longer and longer,
With the morning light, I cry.
Some women say to leave him,
But his hold I cannot break.
My chances of escaping are slim,
His life I must take.
I watch him as he sleeps,
And remember the good times we had,
For those are the memories I wish to keep.
For some of our days were not bad.
The dim street lights reflect off the blade.
Once in the heart and he will be gone.
All of a sudden my courage fades,
Is prison where I belong?
I press the cold steel against my skin,
A crimson river flows from me.
Tonight peace for me will begin,
tonight my soul flies free.
