This goodbye has been a long time coming,
though we have long since parted ways.
You made your journey West,
something I thought you’d never do,
to dance with Aztec warriors, and
commune with ancient Taos Indians
over blazing bonfires.
And I, though I remained East,
finally began a journey of my own,
into self-discovery and revelation,
--the rising sun and sister moon
are mantras now guiding me.
No longer yogi and yoni,
we were quite the pair back then,
you were Sonny, I was Cher
sitting in that silver pick-up
reveling in the unspoken beauty of us
“I got you babe,” indeed
and you had me.
Who’d have thought
it'd end this way.
Two ships set on course,
sailing through the night
to unknown destinations,
the rippling waves a force
causing us to lose sight
and dock at different ports.
