Notes for different happenings in life
by Walter Jones (Age: 62)
copyright 01-29-2003

Age Rating: 10 to 127

Authors note: I have been often assigned the task of writing the note in the card for many different happenings in life.

I thought I might share some these that I have written over the years. It may encourage others to give a personal note. Feel free to modify and use any the comments I leave here.

Sympathy

xxxxxEach of us faces the reality our own mortality
But the reality strikes at the death of xxxxx.
No words I can say will ease the pain.
I do find comfort in my own life, I am an extension of
My family, I am here to honor their memory, I am here to complete the tasks left undone, I am here to put their mark and mine and my children's on the granite of this earth.
As they and those that came before them, I try every day to make this a better place than when I found it.
xxxxx you also do these things. I am proud to say that I know you. Please except my sympathy and know if there is anything I can do to help, you need only ask.

Sympathy

Death is a path that we all walk to, the sad day of loosing a parent comes to us all. Words can not express or help with the sorrow you feel. I can only tell you that I too have lost my parents. Yet I remember them every day in everything I do, they are as much a part of me now as when they walked this earth. I am the shadow that they left behind, I am the tool to complete the tasks left undone.
Name if there is anything I can do now or in the future to help
Please allow me the privilege.

Birthday loved one

Today like most days we look for you and you are there. God has found it in his infinite wisdom to keep you near us. To seal us together as a family. You are the glue that binds us together. Each of us depends on you for his own reason. The men in your life, the ones that place you not a throne, but in their hearts. Love is too small a word to convey what we feel for you, yet each of us uses that word to try and tell you how we feel. We know that you see each of us differently and we also know that there are times we let you down. It is not because we do not love you, rather it is because our hearts are strong, but our bodies are weak . It is true that in some ways we are selfish creatures, but we know that you forgive us. We know that you see beyond the small forget full things we do. You know we do not intend to cause you pain or suffering, hurt feelings, we would never want to let you down. Sometimes we just do, but the next day
You are there for us and tell us everything is okay.

Retirement

Name: how do I start , to say thank you is obvious, to say I will miss you is a understatement. The company owes you a great debt. You provided heart and soul, you made this a better place to work.
Your honest sincere approach makes tasks possible. Your leadership and example made my job bearable. Your contributions to make this a better world could fill volumes.
Please search out and find all the joys of this world. Enjoy your time away from the daily grind and take pride in all that you have accomplished.
I take pride in saying that I know you

Retirement

Name,
The time has come to leave. You have been the craftsman extraordinare. You created, you designed, and you built the dreams of others. It is often times hard to tell the difference between you and the machines you have run. It is almost like you were part of the machine and the machine a part of you. Precision, perfection, well oiled not making parts but rather making art.
Thank you for your years of service.

Retirement

Name, to live as long as we have is a honor in itself. To be a contributor to a great company is a privilege; however to make this a better world for the work you have done puts you in a class of your own. May you find all the joy and riches you rightfully deserve in your retirement.

Person leaving

“LIFE IS ABOUT CHANGES NOTHING EVER STAYS THE SAME”

To say “thank you” is just not enough,
To express my gratitude falls way short of how I feel,
I will just say goodbye, you will be missed, not just for the outstanding contributions, but for your professionalism, dedication to detail and mostly for adding a little cheer and a strong helping hand when the work load seemed impossible to accomplish.
May you find all the joy and happiness you seek and may God Bless, guide and protect you and your family.

Service

Name

Each of us is granted gifts, you have used your talents,
you have shared your skills
with us for over XX years.
You have taken each opportunity
And given all you can.
More times than I can count you have
done the impossible. I thank you for myself,
the company, and the many people you have helped.
Take a moment to cherish all that you have done.
Reflect on accomplishments.
You are greatly admired
Thank you

These selections sound like something that can be used in speeches, and I mean that in a good way. Perhaps that was your intention, perhaps it was not, but regardless of the intention these are good. They fit the occasion you listed them under down to the last detail. I do not know what else to say about this other than good job.

I can see why YOU were the chosen one.
These are amazing, can I have your permission to use them sometime?
Don't worry, I'll give YOU the credit! :)

Well, Walt if I ever need the right words to say to someone I will choose you to write them. Somtimes I tend to be far to blunt to really express the true meaning I am feeling beneath my words. You do not seem to have that problem at all.

are you one of those people that always say the right things at the right times? it would b eodd to be programmed like a greeting card or synpathy card etc...always rattling off cliche comfortings. not being critical of your writings..just pondering in the wrong place.
