times and places
you and I traversed
not so long ago,
wanting to
FREEZE-frame moments
caught on the reel of life:
a kiss
planted softly on the cheek
as a tell-tell sign of things to come,
a lover’s name
tattooed on the forearm
as a token of undying love,
a warm embrace
given at the station platform
saying you’ve been missed,
a sweet smile
of an endearing promise
caught off-guard,
the comfort of strong arms,
the blazing sun on a cold day,
the welcomed cool breeze
on a moist and humid night,
all candid moments,
but most revealing of all:
you and I
alone in the garden,
the crescent moon
in a dimly lit sky above,
the dewy scent of misty leaves below,
standing face to face,
our eyes replaying that night
in the cabin, intertwined,
re-igniting the dying embers,
our love, that burned out
a long time ago.
