Silence the sounds of a generation,
Before peace, war, and segregation.
What was it in the moments before?
Before the night ride ceased to soar.
Fear in the hearts of icons and art?
Were quiet tears shed in the dark?
Or did time end in just a blink?
With no time to fear or think.
Maybe the music didn't die forever,
But I for one will stop to remember.
A seventeen year old Mexican boy,
A mother's hopes and dreams destroyed.
There were glasses on the other rocker,
Then the one they call The Big Bopper.
Yes their music died before my time,
I've felt their mark in 20 years alive.
Today's the day 44 years are gone...
Let's all take time for one more song,
Scream the lyrics of "Amrican Pie"
Maybe shed a tear for all who've died
*In Remeberance of Richie Valens, Buddy Holly, and The Big Bopper
