Ode To Karen

ODE TO KAREN
Ladies, gentleman, girls and boys
Bring your hobbies, your art and your toys
For today, we’ll have a grand display
And to top it all, you don’t have to pay

The stage was set, each face in a glow
After all, this promised to be the show
That would prove the talent of everyone
All the old people, even the young

As a guest in town, I innocently asked
Who is that lady so dreadfully masked?
The thin lip brigade just gave me a look
Then handed me a prose-n- poetry book

Before I could read, I heard a voice say
Ahoy, all sailors, anchor’s away!
To my amazement most all stood up
He was the leader of this very strange club

They all seemed so gifted, the way that they spoke
There was a Jo with an excellent joke
A standing ovation with shouts and cries
As they handed a Bob the Nobel Prize

As evening drew to a final close
And all had read their master prose
A grand piano was brought on stage
Followed by a lady dressed in beige

She happened to be the one in disguise
Little did I know the utter surprise
That was to follow this innocuous event
Try as they may, no one could prevent

Of all the operas ever done on this earth
She chose Carmen as a sort of rebirth
The thin lipped brigade simply shut their ears
This they thought would sustain their worst fears

Now I’ve never before heard angels sing
But this voice was beauty if beauty could sing
What everyone there did not know at the time
Is that their beloved Karen has perfected her mime

I am told she’s very popular now
As long as she does take this vow
Never again to use her own voice
Sometimes freedom is just a choice

Free from the jokes, the poems and prose
She picked a long-stemmed ruby red rose
As she offered the flower on Valentine’s day
Only her lips moved…no sound to say...

I love you my friends at PnP Bay...

The Karen challange

P.S. This pic was taken when Karen was a child, begging the bird to lend her his voice...just a joke...
