My Sweet Revenge
by Vicky Dewing
copyright 02-17-2003

Age Rating: 18 to 127

For sweet revenge, I tripped a rainbow and it fell flat on its back.
Colors lay in pools of splendor for each Joker in the pack.

My first card was 'deceit' with multicolored coat.
I grabbed it by the collar and covered it in mirror white.
Now everyone could see the truth reflecting off its face.
Deceit forever lost to my beloved human race.

Next, I drew Miss 'envy' most often seen in green
And dipped the lady head to toe in an everlasting cream.
Without her olive coat, too shy to re-appear
Benevolence sprouts bounteously without a hint of fear.

'Hatred' proved quite difficult with various shades of black.
Many layers I would need to bleach each shadow’s track.
Then at last in front of me stood an angel white as snow.
Hatred changed in color, to love's everlasting glow.

'Intolerance', short-tempered witch, bathed in scarlet red.
Clock in hand and rainbow spray, I put her straight to bed.
Trapped in time without a sign of bigotry as base
She slept through day and night-light far in outer space.

I had to set a trap to catch 'addiction' in the act.
The problem was the many forms this slippery son could adapt.
There was no other option, but to hoist the rainbow back.
His fate sealed in a world display, a kaleidoscopic track.

I slowly turned away from the motley sky above,
Content with the mutation, I have surely had enough
Of all the different jokers who've been hiding in the pack.
With a humble plea to God above,

’Please don’t change them back’

The deadly sins conquered in a vast array of color. Unique interpretation... I shall remember it awhile.
