I saw
An imprinted foot
Near a new fire hydrant
On the sidewalk.
The brave testament of a passerby,
Leaving his impression on the world.
The wet cement an invitation to immortality.
A quick glance around-
The street fortuitiously empty.
The tennis-shoed foot pressed down firmly.
Completed, the print distinct and final.
That print stared up at me.
"I'm here to stay",it seemed to say.
I wished that it was my foot emblazoned there.
That anonymous step attaining,
What I still strive for.
