Adieu to you, and you and you......
by Betty Eskdale (Age: 63)
copyright 03-03-2003

Age Rating: 13 to 127

Hateful words, sordid thoughts, dreadful accusations;

Emails flying for days from people I don't know and don't wish to know.

Some from writers I have enjoyed knowing.

Innocence lost, naiveté ruined, joy in composition shattered

The beauty of a site filled wih helpful writers dashed

P n P became a place where adulation was mouthed for any entry;

No constructive criticism allowed.... just empty flattery

Pages of poems written quickly and slapped into place

Made reading a chore;

Contests won by popularity not by quality

Then suddenly works thrust into workshops,

Imprisoned there until enough readers decided to let them free

Not because of actual worth, just by whim of whoever chose to read;

Damning, slap in the face to those whose works had already proven them to be good writers

No joy of being home. No joy in being part of a group that once held honour and support.

Unsurmountable numbers of poems heaped on the page to be read;

Bewildering numbers of new authors who suddenly replaced the original hard workers

This is not my home any more, I can't find joy here, my offerings have become dust,

Blown off by the whims of those whom I do not consider to be my equals.

I am removed, emotionally and have been unappreciated for too long to stay any longer.....

I do so hope you are still here Betty. You were one of the first to comment on my efforts.
Hang in there.

I feel your pain Betty...nevertheless...the very nature of what was occuring was slanderous and unfair. What purpose was served by such libelous diatribes? None, I think. This is a fine poetry forum. It was made this way by its founding creator and has been perpetuated by that same person. I, for one, am aligned with the forum and its originator and tend not to allow the slings and arrows of the jealous and irrational sway my ability to reach my own conclusions. God tells us to forgive those who tresspass against us, in our prayers for His forgiveness. We need to apply that principal to All...lest we ourselves remain unforgiven.

Thus, I am encouraging you to stay and support PnP, its founder and its many fine writers...I am convinced that the Site will continue to grow and mature and all of the unfounded rumors and innuendos be damned.

Hugs!

Lyle

Please dome home, and write some more,
