Sailor Moon Column
Neptune Mythology
by Esther Spurrill (Age: 29)
copyright 03-03-2003

Age Rating: 1 to 127

  Sailor Moon Column

Neptune was the Roman god of the sea. The Greeks called him Poseidon. He was usually pictured as a bearded man riding a dolphin or a horse through the waves and carrying a three-pronged staff, called a trident. Neptune was also the god of earthquakes. He was sometimes called the "Earth-shaker."

Neptune was brother of Jupiter/Zeus and Pluto/Hades.

Sailor Neptune, like her Roman namesake, has much to do with water. Her attacks are water-based, like those of Sailor Mercury.

However, it is Sailor Uranus who shakes the earth with her attack "World Shaking."
