I've Known You Always
by Marilyn Wilkerson
Okay, so we're a bit different
You and I
Your rough, work worn hand, darkened by the sun
Grabs for my soft, more sheltered one, much paler and small
They fit, though, and my fears are eased, my joy abounds
Even the strongest hands can offer the softest touch
Touching, innocently, love courses through our very beings
Love connects us; we are one, just by the touch of a hand
We're not really so different
You and I
Hiding deep within you are songs waiting to be sung
My secret self hides stories waiting to be penned
You hear my heart stories, I hear your heart songs
Before they ever leave our inner beings, our souls
Looking into your eyes, I see the movie of your dreams
Your gaze sees my hopes and fears before they find voice
We've always been a couple
You and I
As we face each other, as our lips meet to explore
All doubts are erased, only love, real love, remains
We've known this day would come, our hearts would meld
I've known you forever; you hid in my dreams, my stories
I starred in your love songs, you sang of me before we met
We were midnight fantasies, now we've come to life
We are loved, forevermore
