"Many years ago, a man asked me why I had lost faith in god. And I replied that I had not lost faith in god. No, I had lost faith in man." ~Debra R.
Rock back and forth slowly
Listen to the heartbeat slamming
Into your ears and whispering
It's seduction to your blood
Listen to your father speak with
That woman who moved in
"You should kick her out
She's using you."
But I'm not.
Rock back and forth slowly
Listen to the way your breath gasps
Hyperventelatting through your lungs
In it's wheezing whimper
To send the air to your bloodstream
Through your lungs
And slow your heart suddenly aching
For some bud.
But you don't smoke.
Rock back and forth slowly
Listen to the hissing of voices in your head
That never go away.
No matter how many cigarrettes you puff
To keep from slitting your wrists
No matter how many pills you pop
Gained illegally during lunch
No matter how many tears you spill
To mingle with the blood on your thigh
You never do anything to get caught
And to be noticed.
Rock back and forth slowly
Listen to the sound of whimpers in your chest
How many words of "Hate" and "Sin" are
Carved on milky fat thighs,
Traced over again and again with the same
Burning safety pin?
How many blisters from a scalding
Hair pin are poking in nasty pink puckers on your
Bikini line where you burnt them in?
How much blood must fall before they listen?
How many tears must drop till they listen?

amazing this poem, but your right many never listen untill you've done too much or it's too late. sometimes they even know and won't take notice!
a really good write
Writing the way you feel frees the mind, heart, and soul..eases the mind, heart, and soul..clarifies the mind heart and soul to where eventually the pain and heartache is which rules life is eventually lessened. Keep writing, Debra.
