Sadness covers in grey
All the happiness inside
Blotting out the truth
Hiding the eyes blind
The one she gave her heart to
Will never be the one who will love
Without strings and fears grabbing
Smothering them both
Passions spark outwards
Leaving smoldering flames in its wake
Washed in water filled with salty tears
Deep inside she knows
He knows
It will never be more than it is today
Despite the love
Despite the passion
Despite the soul connection
He’ll run
She’ll cry
They’ll smile
Sadness covers in grey
All the happiness inside
Blotting out the truth
Hiding the eyes.

Mary, why so many love poems, you ask...hmmm, I didn't really think I had that many. However, its a theme that can be twisted, turned and put upside-down...a common theme for many writers. Including me. **smiling**
Robert, you'll find with my writing I tend to write more about the darkness of life than the happiness. Funny, the radio dj just mentioned how many new songs are about the happiness in life and are moving away from the despair/hate themes of the nineties.
Grrr... arrrgghhh... !!!
Man! I absolutely positively HATE when that happens!!!! *sigh*... And what's with all the love poems. *smile* Or maybe it's not them, perhaps it's just me. Heh! I'm even guilty of that one. You'll have to excuse me, my heart's just breaking at the moment and your poem is soooooo true!!!!
