  War Revisited
Picture Credits:

I wrote this a while back and posted it here. Somehow, methinks it bears a revisit...

WAR

Antithesis of Harmony and Peace,
men turn to you to seek resolution.
When differences cannot be ironed,
you’re deemed the ultimate alternative;
always ready, armed with lethal weapons -
waiting pensively behind détente’s façade.

Oh, you employ many clever facades -
the best of which, of course, is that of Peace.
During those mock days, we hide your weapons,
intensely aware of your deadly resolve
to slaughter the masses. Alternatives?
While man feigns plowshares, but forges sword iron?

Devastation, long since bronze became iron,
has fresh implications - undreamed facades.
Ah, mass destruction, that New Alternative!
You’ve nuclear means of achieving Peace.
You can obtain permanent resolutions;
kill generations with atomic weapons.

Let us not forget your other weapons.
You’ve come so far since those days of iron!
Yes! Biological resolutions -
lurking in blankets - envelope facades;
Smallpox and Anthrax - now they’ll bring us Peace!
Else use your chemical alternatives.

We’ve many viable alternatives,
but you lust for man to chose your weapons,
damn negotiations and forsake Peace,
take no prisoners shackled in irons -
commence the carnage and drop the facades.
“Let God sort ‘em out” – now that’s resolution!

In cold fact, you crave death’s resolution.
You burn to be the soul’s alternative.
Your total chaos requires no façade;
we need merely aim your dev’lish weapons
at our hated enemies. Such irony,
your act could bring the final day of Peace

Man must chose resolution o’er your weapons.
Ironically, you are no alternative.
Truth must destroy façades, that real Peace may reign.

This is extremely thought provoking and sobering, as war always is. Powerful.
