Up in the Great Big Sky

Up In the Great, Big Sky

One little caterpillar looked up in the sky
watched the deep blue morning and the birds so high,
And he dreamed of a day when he might fly
Way up in the great big sky.

One little caterpillar saw the bumbling bees
and the white-headed eagles sitting high in the trees.
While the clouds puffed along on a blistering breeze,
Way up in the great, big sky.

One little caterpillar watched an airplane rise
as it left the runway headed for the skies
And he saw the butterfly loop his flittering flies,
way up in the great, big sky.

One little caterpillar watched the eagle’s flight,
and he gazed at the sun shining shimmery bright.
And he thought of the moon and the stars at night,
way up in the great, big sky.

One little caterpillar yawned so big and wide,
so he went to his cocooon and he crawled inside,
And he dreamed of having wings, so he could soar and glide;
Way up in the great, big sky.

One little caterpillar opened each little eye
and he saw orange wings stuck onto his sides.
While he slept he had changed into a butterfly
to fly up in the great, big sky.
