Hold on to Childhood

Hold on to childhood, for when it goes
a river stops and never flows.
Hold on to childhood like your heart
for soon with it, you'll have to part.
Laugh all day and play all night,
cuddle your blanket to sooth the fright.
Laugh with friends and share the smiles,
that you won't see for miles and miles.
Hold on to childhood for when it leaves,
your heart longs and your heart grieves.
Love once you thought you understood
now is gone for long and good.
Confusion takes its very place
obstacles you once conquered, you can no longer face.
Hold on to childhood while you may,
for tomorrow steals another day.

Regina, very well written! If only I could have held on to mine! There is an old saying "too soon old and too late smart" - Seems like it fits me to a tee.
Hi Regina!
Pleased to meetcha. Thanks for reading and commenting on my "life experience poem"...You're right, I try not to act my age..if I did act my age, I'd be OLD!
Like this poem you wrote, you are wise beyond your years....Hold onto childhood, Regina...I did, and life is great!
