GOD’S ARTWORK
God came first, before anything.
Before there was snow or bluebirds to sing.
Not even the oldest fish down in the sea,
knew the day God first started to be.
God saw the world was all dark with no light.
No sun in the day and no moon for the night.
So He cut through the air to make water and sky.
The blue waters below and the air way up high.
Then He made up two balls, one gold and one white.
The gold sun for the day and the white moon shone at night.
And He sprinkled the sky with some glittering stars
and filled empty spaces with planets like Mars.
But there was no color when God looked around,
No not until God grew out of the ground,
Leafy green trees, red apples and flowers,
blue mountains much taller than our biggest towers.
But something was missing in this beautiful place,
Not a sound but the wind, not a smile, not a face.
So God went back to where He began
Before there were mountains, or flowers, or land.
He created great fish of all different colors
to swim in all parts of the big and deep waters.
Some as big as houses. Some smaller than roses.
Some giants with eight legs and fish with long noses.
Then God made birds to fill up the sky.
There were some who could swim, but most could just fly,
and they zoomed through the air making all kinds of sounds,
with colorful feathers they danced on the ground.
Then God created land animals too
and the world became louder than our largest zoo.
Hippos and elephants, monkeys and dogs,
walked alongside pigs, tigers, and frogs.
But God didn’t stop with the birds and the bees.
He made one thing more than the flowers and trees.
This special suprise was His greatest plan
For God, out of dirt, created a man.
And from the man’s side, the Great God above,
molded a woman for His man to love
and both of them walked in the beautiful land
which God had created with his words and his hands.
Above all other creatures, from the big to the small,
God made man and woman most special of all.
With hearts that can love Him and hands to raise up.
With minds that can know Him and learn of His love.
