"Who is your best friend", I ask
So do you start to think,
and think and think of friends you have
to write one down in ink?
And if you have but none at all,
just close your eyes, don't peek.
Then open wide and look around,
for friends play hide and seek.
Don't make a list of friends you have,
or leave a paper blank,
for we all have some friends, you see,
we need to love and thank.
And though there may not be a friend
that has the tittle "best",
don't try to choose just one from all
and forget all the rest.
There really isn't just one friend
that stands above them all,
there may be one you cry to,
or one you always call.
So do not strain to think of
a friend you'll call your best,
for when you do, you pick just one
and forget all the rest.
A picture frame that says "Best Friends"
is not meant for just one,
so look around and picture friends.
I'm sure you have a ton.
(This poem is dedicated to Melissa and Courtney, my two best friends, and to all the true friends I ever had and will have. -- Thanks)
