One can always dream -
in reveries veer
to the rainbow’s apogee
and then careen like a comet
across the cosmos.
Imagination, it seems
has no bounds
save the depth
and the breadth
of our Creativity.
Even tho' overwhelmed by sorrow,
escape’s always nigh -
at the very tip of the psyche.
One can go there -
to absolution,
to dissolution,
and never leave
the agonizing brain.
But what if the soul schisms -
half free
~ to soar unfettered ~
half to suffer?
Will the abandoned half
wait penchant for the return
of the shard that fled,
fervent to assimilate
and perhaps smother
that wayward rebel?
Or can we flee Chaos intact,
remain whole,
and act out the rest of Destiny's play?

Lyle, what caught my eye was 'Can we flee Chaos,
remain whole,
and act out the rest of Destiny's play?'
This seems to be my life at the moment. Fantastic poem.
