Before I knew your Love and Grace
I was filled with anger, wounds and hate,
Tormented, abused and depressed,
No peace, no joy no quiet place.

Emptiness, despair inside my heart,
Nothing to fill this vacant space,
Pouring my life into a bottomless pit,
Meaningless tears, a purposeless start.

I wanted and desired a happy life,
Filled with love and joy and peace,
Searching passionately for any love,
Finding hate and lies and strife.

Finally, finally finding the truth,
Giving this ugly life to you,
All of you filling this vacant space,
Wishing I'd known you from my youth.

You are Jesus Christ my Lord and King,
You've healed my heart and taken the hate,
Giving unmeasured love and joy and peace,
All my love and thanks to you I bring.
