My mind it talks to me
every single day
sometimes I even listen
to what it has to say

Stand up tall
walk real straight
clean all the food
off your plate

Now just because
your getting old
you must
still be told

At times I’d like
to shut it down
take a vacation
leave the town

Still it sings
to only me
blasted thing
won’t let me be

Did you remember
to brush your teeth
look both ways
before crossing
the street

When does it
stop telling me
all that I
need to do

Softly comes
the answer

When life
is through
with you
