Today as I was walking
I wound up with a cheshire cat smile
Upon my face, it took me by surprise because
I had no particular reason to be happy.
My smile refused to leave my face,
no matter how hard I tried,
nor from the numbing pain it caused
The pain could not take away the happiness away because
I had it clutched in my grasp so it could never
Slip out of my life and fly away
To let someone else take my happiness.
If someone stole happiness
There would be no telling of what they'd do,
Yet I don't think my soul could bear the eternal pain
That always follows
From losing the most appealing part of the human soul
People who have lost happiness because
They did not accept the most wonderful gift
Ever given,
Must have been a poor specimen
Or a incomplete human, forever incapable of emotion
Maybe both.
Everyone would be better off accepting the gift
No matter how foolish it makes them feel.
You don't even need to know where the smile on your
Face and heart came from
As long as you know that you are a human being,
Capable of loving and being loved.
