My 1st memory of skipping school
by Jeniffer Brand (Age: 38)
copyright 07-17-2004

Age Rating: 10 to 127

As I remember, it was waaaaay back in 75!
I was going to kindergarden at that time.
Mom took me to the bus stop and kissed me good-bye.
She said I'd have fun and everything would be fine.

As the bus came, she smiled and walked away waving.
I stood there filled with love, anxiety, and tears in my eyes!
Knowing this bond, love and time was worth saving,
I waived to my classmates and said my good-byes!

I never actually got on the bus that day.
Instead I walked all the way to my Mother's work.
"What are you doing here" is all she could say.
Then she gave me a hug, a kiss, and a smirk.

That day in 75 I'll never forget!
And the bond I felt for my Mother.
Since then, I've said things I regret.
But my Mom can't replace any other.

To this day I don't show it enough.
But I love her and always will need her.
Though raising me has been more than tough,
The need and love for her will always be pure.

I love you Mom and always will,
to this day, that bond we've shared, I carry still!

Love always,

Jenny

Oh, this so sweet.
You walked to your mother's work?
Weren't you a bit too young to be able to walk across streets and stuff?
Great poem!

I didn't want to go te first day, but my teacher was awesome so I stayed. She was so nice and she let my slip for almost everything untill the day I cut my hair in class. but I still love her. and she dosn't want me to go to Middle school because then when i go to the bus she wont be able to say hi to me.

I remember my first day of kindergarten.. I got scolded for spelling my name in all capitals... mean teachers... love your work, I'm reading as much as I can :)

Jen, I remember my first day at school. I was 5 and terrified. I ran home the first opportunity I could. You've brought back vivid memories of that day. Nice theme and expression.

Kindergarten in '75? Hmm... that makes you ALMOST as old as I. ;-) And the bond between mother and daughter is hard to explain, but not hard to handle, that's for sure! I love my mother with all I am and owe her even more. (That's why I wrote WILLING WILLOW for her.) Can't wait to read more from you!

'Waive' is something that you sign before going into a court room tv show to 'waive' your rights. The kind of waive you mean is 'wave' to wave at friends. ^^

Very cute. My mother lived too far away to actually walk to her work. Poo. I would have done the same thing. This poem also teaches a valuable lesson to us all about cherishing the ones we love, something we often forget.
