A Wanderer
by Amanda C. (Age: 17)
copyright 12-08-2003

Age Rating: 10 to 127

(It's about Rurouni Kenshin, don't ask. Somebody had to, might as well be me. Watch Rurouni Kenshin Saturdays on Cartoon Network!)

Once there was a wanderer.
A gentle kind of ambler.
The samurai who's free,
In an era called mangy.
His heart and sword: reversed.
His past still unrehearsed.
And yet he shall live on.

Encaged by thee corrupt,
His anger did erupt.
His sword he unsheathed,
Until he could bequeath.
As he moved, he grinned.
His soul has still been sinned.
And he will venture on.

Humbled villagers, awed by such a sight,
Raised the nearest garden fork,
and prepare to fight.
But our hero tells his tale:

'People call me wanderer,
For that is what I do.
I shall and never anchored
In one place or two.
To wield a weapon is my own omen.
Many I have injured,
But I have slain no men.
And the, cruelest thing that I'll ever do,
Is to:
Walk, walk, walk, walk, walk.
Walk away from you.'

....And they did not believe....

With a maiden in his arms
They all he did disarm.
For justice they compete.
For all he could defeat.
Daybreak, he was alive,
The rest? They did survive
But at his feet they fall,
They lost the awful brawl.
They too, will venture on.

People call them wanderers,
For that is what they do
They shall and never anchored
In one place or two.
To wield a weapon is never an omen.
Many they have injured,
But never slain a man.
And the, cruelest thing that they'll ever do,
Is to:
Walk, walk, walk, walk, walk.
Walk away from you.
