Gallery: Nephite

Nephrite is the second of the four knights who began his reign after the defeat of Jadeite. He criticized Jadeite's methods of energy collection and explained that he targeted too many people at once. He felt he could get more energy from a single person than Jadeite could from a hundred, based on a person's intonation with the stars.

Nephrite uses an alter ego named Maxfield Stanton, who is a wealthy businessman/socialite. This guise attracts the affection of Naru (Molly.) After many attempts of gathering energy, which Queen Beryl deemed successful, he stopped looking for the Silver Crystal. This infuriated the third knight, Zoisite, who taunted Nephrite relentlessly. But Nephrite created a black crystal that was able to hunt down the Rainbow Crystals. It only reacted to Naru, and Nephrite correctly assumed it was reacting to her love for him.

In the end, he gained feelings for Naru, which gave Zoisite the edge to kidnap Naru to try to eliminate Nephrite. She was rescued, and Nephrite admitted his feelings for her before Nephrite sacrificed his life to save her. He gave up the homing crystal and died in her arms. His primary goal was to locate the Silver Crystal, but the loss of the first knight enraged him and the desire to avenge his fallen companion became his main driving force.
