Raye is confident and harbors a frank personality with bouts of self-doubt and brooding, which has given her the image of being rude. Because of her psychic powers, she was classified as a weirdo by her classmates. She can dispel or seal evil, and sometimes suffers from vivid dreams. Rei lives with her lecherous yet kind grandfather, who is a priest at the shrine they live at. Her mother died, and she has a bad relationship with her politician father. Because of this, she views all men as emotionally weak. She has no romantic pursuits, except for a short time, with Darien (Mamoru).

She has aspirations to be a singer and song writer. She has an admirer, Chad (Yuchirou) Kumada, who works at the shrine.
