| Our Mission: This Sailor Moon site is unique on the web. The reason is that there is a connected
"sister site," Prose-n-Poetry which hosts writers. These writers produce children's works both in poetry
and prose. The result, filtered for age appropriateness, is available to our "Moonatics." We wish to first
attract and then encourage young people to appreciate literature. We also would like them to learn the pleasures
of writing. Hence when they join as a member, they can also write stories, poems as well as Moon Notes. Commenting is
also available to our Sailor Moon Members. |
Here is a basic overview of Sailor Moon and related stuff for people just learning. The information
below does contain a few spoilers, but not major ones. If you're already a full-blown moonatic, you won't learn
anything here:
Quick Synopsis
of StoryLine:
Usagi (or Serena in the North American version) is an ordinary teenage girl, who just happens to also be
Sailor Moon the leader of a group of female soldiers whose job it is to protect the universe from the various evil people
and aliens that happen to threaten it. Along with her friends (each of whom has her own guardian planet), her boyfriend
and two talking cats, she banishes evil and spreads the power of love. It turns out that she was sent from the future
by her mother, and is actually the Princess of the Moon - destined to rule the Moon Kingdom with her future husband
Prince Endymion (Mamoru, or Darien in the NA version).
SailorMoon was originally a comic (called "manga" in Japanese) by Takeuchi Naoko (Naoko Takeuchi
in American name order) and was turned into a Japanese cartoon (anime) that was eventually dubbed into several different
languages. The most widely-seen of these being the North American version by DIC.

Saturn, Uranus or Neptune. Sailor Pluto appears in only a few episodes.

Hi, I'm Sailor Moon. In America I am known as Serena but in Japan they call me Usagi. My mom sent me
with my friends into the past to earth to protect it so the future would be intact. I don't remember any of that
though. A talking cat named Luna, who mom also sent, told me that I was Sailor Moon and helped me get started protecting
earth. I'm 14 and just crazy about Darien. Wow what a hunk! I'm kinda clumsy as Serena and, well... goofy but when I
become Sailor Moon all that disappears. I win over evil with love and my Moon Scepter.

Hi, I'm Amy, known in Japan as Ami. When there is trouble around I transform into Sailor Mercury.
I just love having all my friends, the other Sailor Scouts. I am very careful not to ever brag but liking school and
getting good marks sometimes makes me unpopular with other kids. As Sailor Mercury though, I am accepted by everyone
and my knowledge and math skills help the other Sailor Scouts to find evil and bring it under control.

Hi there, I'm Mina. I was the first sailor scout. Even before Sailor Moon, I was on the job. I was
know as Sailor V in England but when I moved to Japan to join the other scouts I became Sailor Venus, with a new
outfit, ^_^ I have a cat called Artimis. He was the one who told me about sailor moon and her friends. Also I love
teddies!!!!! My room is full of them and one day I want to be a teacher maybe! In Japan they know me as Minako.

I'm Raye, Sailor Mars when I transform. I like to organize things and and very good at doing events.
I also like to sing and many of the sailor moon songs are sung by me. Two of them are "Rainey Day Man" and
"Oh Starry Night". Serena and I are sometimes at odds about Darien. I think he is quite a hunk too. But
we are good friends and would never let that come between us, though we might have a little cat fight here and there
about him.

Hi my name's Lita, also known as Sailor Jupiter. I'm the 4th scout; I love to clean, boys, to cook,
boys, and did I mention boys? I am properly the toughest of the Scouts but I still have a big heart, when I first
came to this school I fell mega in love with the arcade guy. *Goes off into a dream* I use a mega thunder attack
to defeat my foes and direct approach always work. And don't mess with my mate or me or you'll be in for a beating! The
Japanese call me Makoto.

Hey, I'm sailor Pluto my real name is Setsuna, I am the guardian of time and make sure the dark moon doesn't
get anywhere near it! I'm probably the oldest of the scouts too. When Renie first came to the past (Serena's time) she
contacted me through her Luna ball. I call her small lady. She calls me Sailor P. Bye for now.

Hi, I'm loveable and sweet Rini... well sometimes. Like the scouts, I have a few names, Chibi Moon
and Chibi-Usa. I just dropped out of the sky one day into Serena's arms. Since our memories are not working, neither
Serena not I am aware that I am actually her kid in the future. Darien of course is my Dad. I have special powers
with magic. I have a Luna ball which I can bounce up and down and make stuff appear. It's kinda fun.

Hello my name is Darien I'm about 19 and live on my own, I can't remember any of my past barely.
I was an orphan for ages of my life and when I was older enough I got a job and rented out a flat. All I know is
that I really love Serena and it kills me when I hurt her. At first I didn't know my purpose but know I know it's to
protect Serena. I'm also known as Prince Endymion, Tuxedo Kamen, Mamoru and Tuxedo Mask

Basic Things to Know
The original Japanese name of the series is Bishoujo
Senshi Sailormoon, which translates to "Pretty Soldier SailorMoon." Sometimes, people abbreviate
the Japanese title when referring to it: BSSM.
DIC is the company who released Sailor Moon in
North America.
The term "scout" is never used in the
Japanese version, only in the DIC version.
The Inner Senshi (inner scouts) are Sailor Moon,
Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus.
The Outer Senshi are Sailor Pluto, Sailor Neptune, Sailor Uranus,
and Sailor Saturn.
There are five seasons of BSSM: Sailormoon, Sailormoon
R, Sailormoon S, Sailormoon SuperS, Sailormoon Stars. Only Sailormoon
and Sailormoon R have been translated by DIC into English.

Chibi-Usa/Rini is the future daughter of Usagi/Serena and Mamoru/Darien. She has the same name as her
future mother: Usagi in the Japanese version and Serena in the DIC version. In order to keep it from being too confusing,
they call her a shortened version of the name: Chibi-Usa for Usagi and Rini for Serena.
The voice of the Luna P (or Luna Ball) is actually that of Sailor Pluto.
Diana (ChibiUsa's little grey kitty companion) is the future daughter of Luna and Artemis.
Sailor Venus is also known as Sailor V. She was actually the very first sailor senshi/scout.
