Barry A , born in Augusta, Georgia in about the same era that James Brown was singing "I Feel Good". Raised on a small rural farm in southeast Georgia, Georgia, in a little town Metter, Georgia. I have two beautiful girls, Morgan and Marlee. I have two brothers, Brent, a psychologist, and Burt, a R.N.. I became very interested in writing in high school but didn't really get involved in poetry until about 5 years ago when I became interested in my heredity. Following the trail of my ancestors, I discovered I was a great ancestor of a poet in the late
of poet in the late 1800's Sidney , and also a distant cousin
of a fella named Thomas , who after leaving the county to move eventually to Louisiana, changed his name to Tennesee Williams, who was a poet in his early years as a writer, and later became a playright. I researched and read all of their writing which fueled my interest to pursue writing poetry. Over the previous 10 years I had written fairly extensively as a musical lyricist in country and gospel music, and once I realized that music is really poetry in motion I began to simply enjoy writing.
Poetry has been a blessing in so many ways, since it has allowed me to revisit my past, reveal my present, and dream of my future. After many of my writings were read, many published,
and I started receiving feedback I
could see how so many also receive a blessing from reading poetry. I have met and made many new diverse friends via poetry all over America and the world. I have no special ambition for my work other than give back hopefully a portion of what it has given me.
I have worn many hats over the years. I have been a business owner, business manager, insurance underwriter, farmer, pharmacist, and antique dealer, and all of these gave my pleasure, but none the fullfillment of writing.
I'm honored to be a member of PnP, and cherish the talent and
creativity here on this site, as well as the feedback, which allows me to continue to grow as a writer and individual.
