Williamsji Maveli, popularily known as williams george was based in United Arab Emirates for the last 30 years. He was a freelance journalist for "Khaleej Times", "The Gulf Today" and "Gulf News", the three English daily newspapers published from Dubai and Sharjah.
Williamsji was born on 23rd April, 1955 in Kallettumkara village, Trichur, Kerala State in India. Williams George Maveli, popularily known as Williamsji Irinjalakuda during early 1970's wrote simple romatic, enchanting lyrics in his mother tongue (Malayalam, the Regional language of Kerala State, South India), scribbling from four lines to fourteen lines (called a Sonnet) wrote as many lyrics suitable to depict in romatic love scenes of Malayalam movies from his high school days onwards, at Don Bosco English Medium High School in Irinjalakuda town itself.
Later, while he was a college student, released his first collection of lyrics named as "Ragha Pooja" (Offerings to Love) during year 1973. He was attending Christ College in Irinjalakuda for his Bachelors Degree in Commerce. He was then elected as the Chief Editor of Christ College Magazine during 1976,the year,emergency was declared in India. Since then, he was involved in producing himself manuscript magazines and little magazines, namely "KALITHONJI" (means The Play boat) for Mathrubhummi News paper's Sahrdaya Study Circle of Kallettumkara and 'SHILPY" (The Sculptorist), another Little magazine for Irinjalakuda SHAKTHI MATHRUBHUMI Study circle.
He was much fascinated with the poetry lessons of his Master in English literature, K. Sachidanandan, Rtd. Professor in English at Christ College. Also popular Malayalam Literary Critic Profossor Mampuzha Kumaran inspired in deveoping the poetic talents which was dormant in him. He turned to writing lyrics and penned nearly 300 songs for popular Malayalam film journals, mainly for "CINERAMA", a famous cine weekly during 1970's published from Quilon in Kerala State under the guidance of prominent Malayalam writer cum editor in Chief, Late Kambiserry Karunakaran. Then onwards, he became a regular contributor to many Malayalam jounals and weekly publications, writing poems, lyrics, short stories, novels, screen plays and film cirticisms.
From among those published lyrics, Famous story writer, and close associate of Williamsji, Late T.V. Kochu bhava, selected nearly 100 lyrics from his collections and published "Ragha Pooja" (Offering to Love) which was the first published literary contribution from the author. The second collection of revolutionary lyrics was named as "RANAKHANAM" (The War-front), both were published by PUNNARJANI PUBLICTIONS, Irinjalakuda.
Although, he was successful as a lyricist, his wish was to become a film script writer. To fulfil that, he became the Junior Script Assistant of Late A.C. Sabu, the only Cine Journalist of that period and a close associate of Kanmani films director Late Ramu Kariyat (Movie "Chemeen" based on Late Thakhazi Sivasankara Pillai's famous novel) who brought the first silver Award to Malayalam film industry for the best feature film during year 1970.
Williamsji left Christ College on completion of his Post Graduation in Commerce (M.Com). He then worked for FACT (COCHIN DIVISION-AMBALAMEDU) as Graduate Trainee Officer for ONE year, followed by employment with M/s. Middle East Printers & Publishers,as Managaer (Abu Dhabi-United Arab Emirates), M/s. Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (ETISALAT-United Arab Emirates,as Senior Technician), Head Office, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah (as Project Co-ordinator), M/s Thurayya Satellite Telecommunications Ltd (Abu Dhabi-United Arab Emirates) and with The Career Campus (Ernakulam-Kerala-India) in different positions.
Recently, Williamsji has won a literary award for excellence in poetry and for his latest book titled as "MAA SALAMA..."(An Arabic word which means "Go with Peace), a collection of poems based on desert life. His other works are namely, "POLIVACHANPORULUGHAL" (Revelations of bluffed words), "ARRAMVIRALTHUMBATH..." (On the tip of the 6th finger) and "Forever Lovingly, Yours..." (a bilingual English Cum Malayalam poems, translated by the author himself.
